Day by Day
The Itinerary
Arrive in Kigoma and transfer to Mahale by boat cruise or car. Alternatively, direct scheduled light aircraft flights are available from Arusha or Dar es Salaam. (Please note: All flight costs are at the client's own expense and not included in the package).
Trek into the lush forest of Mahale Mountains with expert TANAPA trackers to find the habituated M-Group chimpanzees. Spend time observing chimp grooming, feeding, and play.
Second full day of chimp trekking exploring different forest trails. In the afternoon, swim in Lake Tanganyika, kayak along the shore, or relax on the white sand beaches.
Spend the day accompanying primate habituation teams deep in the forest observing wild chimp nesting, foraging, and social dynamics.
Farewell Mahale breakfast, followed by a boat or road transfer back to Kigoma town. Check-in and evening leisure at SunSet Vista Hotel.
Breakfast at the hotel and transfer for departure (via boat/car back to Kigoma, or flight to Arusha/Dar es Salaam). Please note that flight costs and all hotel meal expenses are at the client's own expense.
